As Savanna recounts her journey… “It’s been almost four years and I went from being homeless and living in a domestic violence shelter to having a house, a degree, a good job, and stability … wow as I think about it I came a really long way in four years. You don’t think about it when you’re going through it, but when you talk about it, you realize how far you have come.”
Savanna’s children attend the Kingdom House Early Childhood Center. “I have a sliding payment plan through Kingdom House for childcare, which allows me to stay up on my mortgage and make my car payment.”
Our center provides early testing and determined that Savanna’s son needed special services and resources to overcome learning challenges. “I would not have known what I was doing. I would not know about the resources and the people to contact to help him. He would be a lot further behind than he is now. The staff at Kingdom House pointed us in the right direction, assisting us with contacts for the help we needed, and on top of that, they’re following up, asking how’s he doing, and checking on his progress in the classroom. You don’t find that anywhere else.”
“Thank you, thank you. What you do to help support Kingdom House makes it possible for my kids to go to daycare, allowing me to work to support them. I don’t know what else we would do, especially for people like myself who fall in that gap where you are three dollars over the income limit for daycare assistance, but don’t have enough to pay for Early Childhood Education.”
